Dog ACL Surgery: Second Follow Up Visit

Beagle Tracks -default_2_edited-1July 15th and 16th: Hello again, today I’ve going to tell you about day 30 and 31 of Daisy’s recovery.

As I expected there wasn’t much to report about on day 30. If fact, there wasn’t anything at all. Daisy had a completely uneventful day, aside from her allergies.

Today – day 31, was the day she had to true to the veterinarian for her 4 week checkup and the last of her companion therapy laser treatment. My husband left to check Daisy in expecting the normal 2-3 hour wait, and quickly returned stating that the wait was much less than expected. We arrived at the veterinarian’s office not a moment too soon. We weren’t there 5 minutes and they called for us to come in to see the doctor.

Once inside they weighted Daisy, and I’m happy to report she lost three pounds and now weighs 46 pounds 3 ounces! Once we came home I noted her weight and noticed that she is just 5 pounds away from where she was when she was 16 months old!

After seeing the doctor, we were told that Daisy would need to continue her Noxon, but would no longer need to take her Tramadol (pain medication). That’s welcomed news for sure.

Unfortunately, because of her allergies she now has two more medications she has to take. She is taking a liquid medication called Temaril-P for her allergy symptoms. Also, because her allergies have caused her to lick and infect her feet, she is on Keflex (antibiotics) again.

Our next appointment is in two weeks, and the nurse said that there is a chance that Daisy will be allowed to start taking 5-10 minute walks after that appointment. I’m SO overly excited.

Her leg looks great, you can’t really see the scar without looking for it, and her hair is quickly growing back. She is limping today, but we did let her walk into the veterinarian’s office, and they pressed on it. So it’s only natural that it would be tender.
